Does Steger Have a Pre-Sale Home Inspection?

Yes, Steger does have a Village of Steger pre-sale inspection.  How this pre-sale home inspection process works is: jut before or right after you list your home for sale, contact the Village of Steger Building Department and schedule the pre-sale home inspection; then an inspector will come to your home and complete the inspection; then you will receive a list of repairs to complete before closing; complete the repairs; and then you will need to schedule a reinspection for the Village inspector to confirm that all the repairs are completed.  If the repairs are not completed before closing, then the closing will either be held until the repairs are completed, or there is an escrow process available where the seller puts money in escrow for the repairs to be completed post closing.   the water account to the name of the buyer, and for the seller to have the final water bill paid right before closing.

In the south Chicago suburb communities, drinking water either comes from wells or from Lake Michigan, and Steger’s water is well water.  With well water you would usually need your own water softener.  The Village of Steger owns and operates their own water and sewer systems.
