Little Italy is our family’s favorite nicer restaurant in Dyer Indiana. For our family of four, with a couple soft drinks (kiddie cocktails usaully), an appetizer, and a great meal – with tip it is about $100.
Included with any meal is fresh bread, oil, and parmesean cheese – this alone is worth the trip. They usaully ask if you are celebrating anything, and if you state most anything, you get a small desert for free.

If you’ve never had Coldstone Ice Cream, its a treat. Instead of having premade flavors of ice cream, they make the ice cream on a “cold stone”. So, if you ordered cookie dough ice cream, they would start with vanilla ice cream and mix in the cookie dough pieces (and anything else).

Stardust Bowl is the only bowling alley in Dyer. They have quite a few lanes, a kitchen, a bar, and an arcade. If you are looking for a state of the art bowling alley and arcade, checkout “Up Your Alley” in Schererville.

We used to prefer Pheasant Hills park as our favorite park in Dyer, or possibly the park by St. Margaret Mercy hospital, but the Town of Dyer replaced and added playground equipment at Northgate Park, and its now really nice. There are also walking trails, a pavilion you can rent out, tennis courts, and ball fields.

The Daily Drip Coffee Lounge’s 4.9 of 5.0 stars on their Google Business Listing says it all. Great atmosphere, great coffee, fair prices (but doesn’t everyone think that coffee houses are overpriced?!)

Jewel-Osco is our go-to full grocery store. Walts gorcery store is also an option. When you need a store that will have anything you could need, Jewel is the best option in Dyer. When it comes to stocking up on groceries, we find ourselves going to Merrillville to Costco, Meijer, and Aldi.

Plum Creek Meadow Forest Preserve has the best single track mountainbiking in Dyer. The trails are not maintained by the Forest Preserve, and I’m not sure if the Forest Preserve wants people to mountain bike here, but there are a handful of trails. My kids and I enjoy riding out bikes here. Along the trail there is a creek that is fun to hang out at. Misquitos can be crazy if the weather is wet. Its also fun to see all the deer activity in these woods.
