On January 10, 2026 my family (shown left/above) spent an evening in downtown Valparaiso, and stopped for ice cream. This blog post will outline our experience at the Creamery.
If you’ve spent any time walking around downtown Valparaiso lately, you’ve probably noticed one thing: people smiling with ice cream in hand. That’s no coincidence. Central Park Creamery has quickly become a go-to stop for locals and visitors looking for a sweet (or salty!) treat right in the heart of Valpo.
Located near Central Park, this ice cream and pretzel shop is the kind of place that feels instantly familiar — friendly staff, nostalgic treats, and a menu that somehow makes it impossible to choose just one thing. Whether you’re stopping in after dinner, during a downtown stroll, or as a reward after a long day, Central Park Creamery fits perfectly into the Valparaiso vibe.
I’d imagine most people looking for info on Central Park Creamery would be looking for the menu, hours, and location – so, let’s start with that!
Central Park Creamery is on the main downtwon street of downtown Valparaiso – Lincolnway. The creamery is a few doors down to the east from Stacks Bar & Grill
Address is: 151 Lincolnway, Valparaiso, IN 46383
Phone number: (219) 242-8068
Yes, the ice cream is excellent — but Central Park Creamery is way more than an ice cream shop.
They serve:
Fresh baked jumbo pretzels
Specialty pretzels with cheese, pepperoni, or jalapeños
Hand-spun shakes and malts
Old-fashioned floats
Fresh squeezed lemonades, limeades, and orangeades
Slushies made with Jolly Rancher flavors
It’s one of those menus where kids are thrilled, adults are excited, and nobody leaves hungry. The combination of salty pretzels and sweet ice cream is honestly dangerous in the best possible way.

The creamery is located in downtown Valparaiso. Downtown Valparaiso is a REALLY cool place to visit. The Town of Valpo takes great care of the downtown, and the downtown is a great place to spend time and walk around. Following are two photos outside of the creamery – the first photo is the outside of the store, and the second photo is a selfie my family took in the street right in front of the creamery. As you can see from the street photo, the Town of Valparaiso keeps the downtown in great condition, and I love how the lighted trees look.
While we were here there was a light snow, which made our experience even more enjoyable. I felt like we were walking around in a Hallmark Christmas movie!
The inside of the Creamery is nicely decorated with a mix of light blue, exposed brick, white trim, and classic lighting.
There’s about 6 tables inside the store that you can eat at. The tables have a nice marble (I think) surface.
The store was very clean, and it was an enjoyable experience just to be in the store.
They do have a bathroom in the store also.
One of the best things about Central Park Creamery is its location. Downtown Valparaiso is already packed with great restaurants, shops, and events, and this spot fits right in.
It’s perfect for:
A treat after dinner downtown
A quick stop while exploring Central Park
Family outings
Date nights that need dessert
Summer walks that somehow turn into ice cream walks
And let’s be real — having a place like this nearby makes downtown Valpo even more walkable and fun.
One thing I love about Valparaiso is how much character our local businesses bring to the community. Shops like Central Park Creamery don’t just serve great food — they create places where people gather, relax, and make memories.
Whether you’re a longtime Valpo resident or someone thinking about moving to the area, spots like this are a big part of what makes Valparaiso such a great place to live. It’s these small, locally owned businesses that turn a town into a community.
If you’re exploring Valparaiso as a place to live, checking out local favorites like Central Park Creamery gives you a real feel for the lifestyle here. Walkable downtowns, family-friendly businesses, community events, and plenty of places to grab a treat — it’s easy to see why so many people love calling Valpo home.
And if you’re ever curious about neighborhoods, home values, or what it’s like to live near downtown Valparaiso, I’m always happy to help.
